Metal labels
We are often asked about good metal plant labels, which are difficult to find. We occasionally import a pallet full from the US (by sea freight), which allows us to keep the price very affordable. We have been selling them for years and use them ourselves! They last forever because they are reusable and also look great.
The Small and Medium Plate Labels are now available in a 'Heavy Duty version' with stainless steel wire and a thicker zinc plate. They are significantly stronger than before. Write on them with a regular HB pencil; the graphite reacts with the zinc, ensuring that the writing remains legible for years. They can be removed with steel wool or very fine sandpaper. The adhesive labels from the label printers also adhere very well to these plates.

Where a label does not need to be conspicuous, but must prove its worth. Very suitable for potted plants or low (rock) plants, but unsuitable for taller perennials in a border. For this purpose, use a larger label. The tapered section can be folded around a woody twig, making it very suitable for (evergreen) shrubs or trees. Please note that the writing area is small: 1.25 x 8 cm.

Plastic labels
For those who find metal labels too expensive, these white plastic labels are an excellent alternative. However, it is important to bear in mind that these labels are made of plastic, which ends up in the soil. Although they are of very good quality, over time these labels will become brittle and crumble under the influence of sunlight. All plastic labels are not very environmentally friendly, as the material is made of PVC.
Just to be clear: these are NOT the labels you buy at a garden centre. You know the ones: those hard, smooth labels that are almost impossible to write on and become brittle very quickly. Ours have a slightly rough surface and both pencil and marker pen work very well on them.
