Sowing and Cuttings Courses in 2026

All courses are taught in Dutch only!

The cuttings and seed-sowing courses have pretty much become classics. We know from previous years that they usually fill up straight away, so don’t wait too long to book. You can do this by sending an email, to which we’ll reply with a confirmation.  We’ve also noticed that people sometimes cancel at the last minute or, worse still, don’t turn up at all. That’s very frustrating. That’s why we send everyone a reminder email two weeks before the relevant date, at which point you can still cancel free of charge. If you don’t do this and don’t turn up, we’ll still send you an invoice.

Registration is therefore essential! Please register by email (bio@hessenhof.nl) if possible. Payment can be made on the day itself. (Card payments accepted)

Course on taking cuttings by Hans Kramer

This is a brilliant time of year for taking cuttings, and you’ve no idea just how many perennials – and shrubs, too – can be easily propagated this way. After an hour’s theory, we’ll get stuck in ourselves. Cuttings, potting compost and pots will be provided. Participants on this course are often so enthusiastic that they get straight to work at home. Books up quickly every year. € 27.50, including a few pots with cuttings.

During the final opening week of the year, we’ll be running one of our most interesting practical sessions. The fascination with a seed sprouting has been around for centuries. Unfortunately, fewer and fewer people are sowing their own seeds. It adds so much to gardening, and it’s so easy. We can sow many perennials and shrubs. How does it work, and can we simply sow anything and everything? What is the best sowing compost, and how long do we have to wait for something to germinate? Always fully booked. € 27.50, including a couple of pots full of promise to take home with you.
